Thank you, outgoing Chairman Pawan and Good evening to all members present at today’s AGM.
I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude and shall work towards taking the Chapter forward in 2022-23. This Chapter has been built over the past decade with a lot of passion and hard work of Past Chairpersons, Patrons, Committee Members and Members & Volunteers, many of whom are present today. I thank them for their contribution and continued support. My aim will be to take over the baton and work towards making ICAI Singapore Chapter more recognised and respected in Singapore that benefits all members.
2022 has opened up a bright new era for Singapore Chapter post the tight COVID regulations. We plan to create energy, warmth and camaraderie via Speaker Events, Special Gala get-togethers, Networking, Knowledge Sharing & having Fun together!
As in the past, we have structured six Sub-Committees, including one new, in the following areas:
These Sub – Committees will be led jointly by a MC member and a Volunteer member and supported by interested multiple Volunteers. We have also already received expression of interest from certain members which I duly acknowledge & appreciate. I would like to call out a few names to recognise them – Kushal Jaju, Arvind Ramaswamy, Aayush Yagnik, Nipun Agarwal, Pranita Murarka, Srivatsan Rajamani. I am sure we will have more interested members joining in. We need your support to improve our execution bandwidth. I wish to highlight a few more points on the various sub committees:
Three key themes that I shall continue to focus on are Transparency, Trust & Value Add to Members. A few learnings from the past year in the Chapter has taught us the need to be even more transparent about Governance, Professionalism and creating a platform to share ideas and suggestions. It’s a continuous improvement journey and we are all committed.
Our parent body ICAI India is hosting the World Congress of Accountants in Mumbai in Nov 2022 (held globally once in 4 years) and is looking to their International Chapters to participate actively. We had a video conference yesterday with ICAI India President Mr. Debashis Mitra & Vice President Mr. Aniket Talati, and Mr. Mudit yesterday and they are keen to support & work closely with the Singapore Chapter in multiple areas.
I welcome all ICAI Singapore Chapter Members to come forward and engage more with the Chapter activities, participate in the Formal & Social Events, Knowledge Series, etc. There are enough opportunities to share your skills and learn. The main Goal for 2022 should be “To Network, To Learn & To Contribute”!!
At this juncture, I am pleased to share details of the ICAI Singapore Chapter’s Office Bearers for 2022-23 supporting me. Let me start with:
Please join me in welcoming our new office bearers. All four of us have been in the Committee and have good experience & learnings. We shall work hard to serve the members.
In conclusion, each one of us in the audience as well as other members who are not in our midst today are flag bearers of our parent body ICAI India. We must all shine as Professionals, continue to do our best to enhance our personal brand equity as well as the brand image of the CA Institute.
Let’s continue to contribute to fellow members and to the larger community in Singapore.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve the ICAI Singapore Chapter.
Yours truly,
CA Ramky Subramanian
Chairman, ICAI Singapore Chapter
