Digital Innovation & Fintech Landscape

The Singapore Chapter of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and CPA Australia held a Joint event in Singapore on 12 Oct 22 on “Digital Innovation and Fintech Landscape”. Speakers for the evening were Luke Soon (Partner PwC Singapore) and Navin Suri (Advisor to the board Elevandi set up by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)). The event witnessed a full house attendance with members, key dignitaries & professionals from both bodies including ICAI Singapore President Ramky Subramanian, VP Somnath Adak, Secretary Nishant Kumar Surana and CPA Australia Singapore Divisional President Max Loh, Councillor Shuih Ying Tang, GM Emerging Markets Leslie Leow.

Mr Loh and Mr Leslie welcomed the audience and highlighted the partnership with ICAI Singapore Chapter including the MRA with ICAI. They suggested to continue to strengthen the collaboration moving forward. Ramky Subramanian invited the audience for World Congress of Accountants 2022 to be held in Mumbai during 18-21 Nov 2022. He spoke about the long standing alliance with CPA Australia. He also highlighted the role of 21st century accountants, which incorporates the best of traditional accounting with AI, fit for purpose technologies & expectations of stakeholders in modern era. CPA Australia is also a platinum sponsor for the World Congress of Accountants 2022.

Mr Luke provided key updates in relation to the fast changing digital landscape (Assets, Cryptocurrency, Metaverse, Web 3.0) and the way Singapore is positioned for these developments. He added that these technologies have a potential market size of $3-$8 Tn which carry an impact of changes in businesses, family, busy shopping streets, basically a possible impact on all sectors and walks of life.

Following this, Mr Navin Suri, Banker, Fintech evangelist and member of Singapore Fintech festival organising team, shared his expert views and experience on Fintech StartUps, size & scale of investments including recent trends. He quizzed the audience with the facts and figures of Fintech StartUps across the globe. In a highly interactive session, the members were deeply engaged by the practical examples shared by the speakers. The session was well appreciated & concluded with a networking dinner between the members of both the institutes.
