Valuation of Start-Ups and Case Study

The Singapore Chapter of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held a Professional Series Event on 4 October 2022 on “Valuation of Start-Ups and Case Study on Valuation” presented by CA GANDHARV JAIN and CA Amrish Garg (Partners of Finvox Analytics). The event was also graced by the presence of ICAI Council Member CA. (Dr.) Rajkumar Adukia.

The event started with Chapter President Ramky Subramanian and Vice President Somnath Adak providing key updates in relation to ICAI Singapore Chapter including upcoming events - Joint event with CPA Australia on Oct 12 (Theme : Digital innovation & Fintech Landscape), Deepavali Gala Event on Nov 5 at Hotel Jen Tanglin by Shangri-La Singapore and a Professional Series Event on Dec 6 with leading Investment expert Saurabh Mukherjea, FRSA (Marcellus investments). Ramky Subramanian also shared about the ICAI SG office bearers’ meeting with the High Commissioner of India Mr P. Kumaran, earlier that day.

ICAI Central Council member CA. (Dr.) Rajkumar Adukia shared interesting facets of his career and learning journey. He also shared his passion for continuous learning and guided the members of the Chapter to reach out to each other to gain more knowledge. He also gave a glimpse of the exciting events lined up for the World Congress of Accountants, to be held from Nov 18 to Nov 21 2022 in Mumbai, India.

GANDHARV JAIN shared his expert views on Valuation of Start-Ups which included global trends, Start-Ups as an asset class for investors, price vs valuation, challenges and highs of founders etc. He enlightened the audience with the history and origin of the Start-Up buzz in India (3rd largest market after US and China). Amrish Garg presented various models used for pricing of Start-Ups with a case study approach, entry and exit framework, pre-IPO and post-IPO examples for Start-Ups listed on Indian stock exchange during the last five years. In a highly interactive session, the members were deeply engaged by the practical examples shared by the speakers.

We thank both the speakers for spending their time with us and taking us through this extremely engaging and knowledgeable session. We also thank CA. (Dr.) Rajkumar Adukia for taking out his time from his busy schedule and engaging with members of the Chapter. We thank our members for their support and active participation. We also thank our volunteers who played a key role in the seamless conduct of this event.
